Hey guys and gals, welcome to the first post in a new series I am working on. It’s been inspired by my weekly Friday night dinners with my mom, just call us the Gilmore Girls. 🙂 Anyway, we like to try new places but given the limitations of restaurants in the area that we haven’t been to, we end up going to the same places pretty often too. I like to try new things though and so does my mom, so hopefully these posts will be a bit of good fun and will give you all some tasty pictures to look at and some dining ideas should you ever happen upon South Florida.

After striking out at a few of our usual dining favorites, we were driving around looking at the TripAdvisor app for some ideas that were nearby and that is how we came to find Blue Moon Seafood and Chophouse. The place is on the fancier side, which is usually not a requirement for our Friday night dinners, but in this case we both happened to be in nicer clothes that would pass for dressy. So, we went inside and got a table and began to peruse the menu. Now this is pricier than we usually do too but when in Rome right?
So anyway, we ordered all of the yummy foods listed above and every single thing was delicious. The drinks were perfectly sweet with that subtle bite of alcohol coming through and the appetizer was really yummy. The brie was perfectly heated and the pairing of everything listed above along with walnuts, diced apples, mixed greens, and bread was excellent. It had so many things going on, which could have the potential of being too much, but this appetizer worked in every way. I wanted to eat the whole thing but I had to save room for my meal. I had the grouper with the mushroom risotto (I’m obsessed with risotto), and it was full of so many great flavors. My mom got the lamb which she said was so tender, juicy, and full of yummy spices, that she wanted to eat it all but couldn’t. There was so much of it that it seemed to grow as she ate. Haha!
Finally, what would a great meal be without a great dessert? The Key lime pie was the perfect mixture of tart and creamy, the homemade whipped cream and fruit was a nice addition, and the Irish coffees were strong. It was the perfect ending to a great night out with my mama and I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. Happy eating!
